Independent Prescribing

Optometrists with an Independent Prescribing (IP) Qualification are able to prescribe medications to treat certain eye conditions that previously had to be managed by the hospital. This means that people can sometimes be seen on the High Street, rather than having to travel to eye clinics in the hospital.

You must be referred to an IP-qualified optometrist, either by your own optician who will see you first, or by the hospital.

During Covid lockdown, Marc was one of four practitioners chosen to support the NHS Cardiff & Vale Trust.
